A skeptic is a person who maintains a questioning or doubting attitude.
A person who never questions is an ignorant fanatic. A person who always doubts is an unfunctional wreck. As with all things, this too is a matter of balance.
Being between the two extremes means that there is a degree of trust and a degree of doubt. A practical approach is to regard doubt and trust less as basic principles and more as tools for deciding what works and what doesn't.
It is not at all uncommon that a psychic can be a skeptic or that a skeptic can be a psychic. A healthy trusting and questioning attitude is required for both - this is not so much paradox as it is common sense.
When to trust and when to question? Being between the extremes means that we all develop temporary blind spots in our awareness. That's kind of the price of growth, functionality and change.
